Log Firewood Rack - 3 Great Reasons to Use One

We all love the fire to come into from the cold outdoors.  To make the starting and keeping the fire going as easily as possible use a log firewood rack.

Kindling and Starter:  There so many options for fireplace material storage in the house when thinking about getting your fireplace up and running.  The ability to get to the starter or kindling to build your fire easily makes the whole experience very satisfying.   Inside firewood racks are designed to hold both fireplace logs, starter and kindling.  Some even have a place to hold long reach matches.  These are great at helping to get the fire going.  Fatwood is a great way to help start the fire. 

Inside Storage:   Log firewood racks for firewood convenience next to the hearth come in different forms.   There are small ones with wheels to bring in a load of wood that will last at least through the night or maybe a couple days depending upon your requirements.  Stationary racks with the capability to hold wood and the tool set for tending your fireplace.  Also, there are canvas log holders that act as a carrier and log holder at the same time.  Use the canvas carrier to bring in the wood then the log holder to store it for use.   The biggest concern with inside storage of wood is not to have it right next to the heat of the fireplace hearth.  We all like the heat of the fire but we need to keep it in the hearth.  Combustibles need to be kept a fair distance from the fire source.  

Outside Storage:  Why take the time to stack your wood after its delivery? Well there are many good reasons.  First reason is to make sure you received the correct amount.  It is not uncommon for folks selling and delivering wood to not stack the wood on the delivery truck.  That would require more labor and make the wood less profitable.  Most have a pickup type dump bed and will place the wood at any location you want if they can drive or back in it.  Stacking the wood comes with an additional fee.  Choosing to stack the wood using log firewood racks is a smart idea.  Number one, you see how much you have.  Two, when in an orderly stack, the wood can be covered and kept from the outside elements.  Three, by being off the ground for the most part, you will have a lesser chance of bringing extra friends into the house you do not want, bugs and spiders.  Plus stacked wood just looks better and tidy. 

Wood storage is best when what you need is easy to get to and easy to use.  Happy wood burning and check the flue prior to use.  Have a warm winter.
