Fireplace Screen Accessories - 3 Must Have's

A fireplace is a wonderful feature in any home.  Deciding what fireplace screen accessories to have is an easy decision to make:  a set of tools, log holder and safety precautions are the best choices. 

Fireplace Tool Set:  A fireplace tool set comes most commonly with a set of three tools.  The tools consist of a poker, small shovel and a small broom or brush.  Some sets will add to these basic tools a set of log movers and a stand to hold and display the tools. 

Fire Log Holder:  A log holder or small log rack inside by the fireplace is an easy way to keep wood close to the place where it will be used.  A log holder could be anything that will keep your wood handy. However, there are many types available today that complement the hearth.  Some are like a small basket and come in many different finishes.  There are racks that come with wheels so when you make a trip to your wood pile outside you have the ease of wheeling the wood back in.  Log holder carriers are also made with a canvas insert to separate from the holder to go out and pick up a small amount of wood and carry inside.   Holders can be purchased with a design for storing both kindling and logs.  

Safety Precautions:  No hearth is complete without heavy-duty gloves for fire maintenance. Protect your hands from painful burns with heavy-duty suede hearth gloves.  Hearth gloves are made with a fully insulated glove-in-glove design. The interior features a full lining of non-asbestos felt and welted seams to protect fingertips. A 100% split cowhide exterior stands up to the heat, resisting burn through.  A fire suppressant is indispensable as the first line of defense for controlling fires that occur from creosote build-up in chimneys.
