An island range hood best works as a filter while a kitchen vent is more of a sweeper

An island range hood is a type of range hood that is installed in the island of the kitchen. There is another option in the form of a kitchen vent that can be installed near the exterior wall or a window or directly over the cooking range. Both the island range hood and the kitchen vent are wonders of modern invention that keep kitchens across the country looking like new, year after year. All the stale air of the kitchen is handled by these kitchen appliances so that the cook can cook in peace. There is no hassle of coughing and wheezing the moment someone enters the kitchen and starts to cook. The kitchen becomes the room to be when at home.

It is very easy to install an island range hood or a kitchen vent. When you buy either of these kitchen appliances, you are supplied with an owners’ manual and it details the installation process. There are various websites too that give you a step by step process of installing an island range hood or a kitchen vent. However, if you are not savvy with the installation of kitchen appliances, then you should have a company representative come over and get the installation done. In the current competitive market, any manufacturer will be happy to offer someone coming over and installing the island range hood or the kitchen vent provided you buy from them.

An island range hood, as the name suggests, is installed in the island of the kitchen. It can also be installed near the kitchen window (if it is the vented type). However, more popular is the ductless type of island range hood, because it can be installed well inside the kitchen. This type of island range hood is the ductless type. A vented island range hood sweeps the stale air of the kitchen outside while a ductless island range hood filters the stale air through in built filters made of charcoal or aluminum.

A kitchen vent offers you great flexibility in terms of the position. If you want the stale air of the kitchen to be swept outside through the exterior wall or the kitchen window, then you are better off installing the appliance near the kitchen window. If, however, you want the stale air to escape through a chimney, then you can install the kitchen vent directly over the stove.

Both the island range hood and the kitchen vent work wonders for the kitchen. When the entire family sits down to eat in the kitchen, they are not bothered by the heat, smoke and grime that emanates when cooking is done. The air inside the kitchen is fresh and odorless. Even when guests sit to eat in the dining room, they are greeted with fresh aroma of food from inside the kitchen and not the smell of oil that was used while the cooking was in process. For that beautiful kitchen with its spic and span look, an island range hood or a kitchen vent is a must for every household.
